A Step by Step Guide for registering for a Gov.UK Verify Account
The following example is to check your State Pension, but registering for Gov.UK Verify is the same process for both services
On the next page if this is the first time you have used the service click 'Create an account' and press continue.
We would advise setting up a Gov.UK Verify account, this is because they are phasing out the Government Gateway Service

If you are over 20 years old and have lived in the UK for the last 12 months select and click continue, these questions are designed to select the correct company for you to use
If you have a UK photocard driving license & UK passport select and click continue, these questions are designed to select the correct company for you to use
If you have a mobile phone select yes, additionaly, it will ask if you can install apps, these questions are designed to select the correct company for you to use
Answering the questions this way will give you the choice of these companies to verify your identity

At the company site you will be prompted to create a Username & Password

They need a mobile number and email for a two-stage verification; they will send a code by text to your phone and by email

Then they will show you a screen to check and confirm your details are correct. Check the details you have entered, tick the confirmed box and then continue
Select whether you have a UK passport. In this example we have selected yes
Enter the details from your UK passport; Passport Number, Surname, Given Name, Date of Expiry
You will be asked if you have a UK driving license, we selected yes. The basic details are carried over from earlier in the process; so enter Issue & Expiry dates and License Number
You then have to enter details of a UK bank account; this cannot be a joint account. On the next screen it will check a phone contract with your mobile number
From the information provided the company will now ask a question that related to that information to pass the Identity test
You will now be able to login to the government service that you want to use
